An Alpine resort with a unique character
The rocksresort in Laax combines modern architecture with the alpine lifestyle at the highest level. Located directly at the base station of one of Europe’s largest and most popular ski and bike areas, the resort offers its guests year-round access to recreational and nature experiences.
The striking architecture of the buildings, designed by Domenig Architects, draws inspiration from the rock formations of the historic Flims landslide. The individual structures are grouped like scattered boulders around a lively piazza—the resort’s central gathering place. High-quality materials such as regional Walser quartzite give the complex its unmistakable character.
With fully equipped apartments for four to eight people, numerous restaurants, shops, and recreational facilities, the rocksresort offers a vacation experience that armoniously combines design, comfort, and nature. All apartments feature private steam baths, allowing guests to unwind after an active day in the mountains.
Challenge: Reliable operation for maximum guest comfort
The steam generators originally installed had reached the end of their product life cycle. Spare parts were only available in limited quantities, and the existing technology proved ill-suited to local water conditions. This resulted in frequent malfunctions and insufficient steam output.
It was therefore clear to the rocksresort technical team that a long-term, reliable solution was needed—one that would meet the resort’s high quality standards while also reducing maintenance requirements.
The solution: Gradual modernization with Condair
Since 2023, the existing steam rooms have been gradually modernized as part of a multi-year project. In the first phase of the project, 121 existing units are being replaced. In addition, a total of 43 additional steam generators were installed in the new buildings, House L and House M.
The units are being used in the bathrooms of the apartments in the rocksre-sort building. Installation and commissioning were carried out directly by Condair specialists, allowing all project phases to be implemented efficiently and without additional coordination points.
The close collaboration with the Condair team and the expert support during the planning and implementation of the project were particularly appreciated.
